LINKS is a Foundation born from an agreement between Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Politecnico di Torino that has been operating for about 20 years at national and international level in the field of applied research, innovation and technology transfer in which work about 160 researchers. Its objective is to enhance the lever of research and innovation, contribute to the growth of the socio-economic system, activate large-scale processes and projects with significant impacts on the territory and establish a dialogue with the local, national and international business fabric, with a view to sharing and enhancing knowledge, experience and innovation.

Position

LINKS Foundation is searching for a Junior Specialist for its Extended Reality Lab.

The laboratory offers a set of skills and innovative technological tools dedicated to exploring and enhancing the possibilities generated in this sense by digital technologies.

Strategic assets

The VR LAB develops 3D models, graphic animations, VR / AR simulations and data processing algorithms, and bring within national and international research projects the following capabilities:

  • Design of 5G, Virtual and Augmented reality-based systems to improve accessibility, sustainability, and protection of Cultural Heritage.
  • Realisation of Virtual Reality interactive simulations for land and emergency management operator education.
  • Realisation of 3D models to support digitization processes of works of art and monuments.
  • Realisation of composite digital products to support digital tourism and virtual visiting in addition/integration to traditional visit tours.
  • Studies on immersive digital products to support the formation of artisanal, manufacturing and industrial skills, and employee training for evacuation and security procedures in factories.
  • Gamification processes and tools to support education, communication and popularisation campaigns through innovative digital products.

Requirements

The candidate should possess a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and will contribute to the creation of VR Simulations to support the training of emergency operators, with particular focus on the following tasks/skills:

  • 3D modelling;
  • shading and texturing;
  • rigging and animation;
  • experience in Blender and Unity;
  • experience in Final IK;
  • game design and storytelling basic knowledge;
  • programming languages: C, C#, C++


Further mandatory requirements:

knowledge of Italian (mothertongue)


Experience level: new entry


Preferential requirements:

  • experience with some of the most used VR plugins (e.g. Steam Vr, Meta XR SDK, OpenXR, Oculus Integration);
  • experience with a network library in Unity (e.g. Mirror);
  • programming languages: Java, HTML


  • knowledge of English (at least B1)

Other information

Basic employment agreement conditions

· fixed-term, full-time researcher agreement (12 months);

· terms and conditions of employment are fixed by national collective bargaining agreement (CCNL Terziario);

· maximum of 10 days of smart working per month;

· meal vouchers

· payroll scale level will be evaluated during selection process;

· Incentive Compensation Plan will follow Foundation’s policies;

· proven competencies and seniority level will be duly considered
